Board Of Advisors

The Herring Foundation of Hope has assembled a board of volunteer advisors to guide the organization.

Mark Blount - Executive Director

Mark is Vice President of Marketing for Brightree. He has held marketing and sales leadership positions with Fortune 100 corporations as well as start-up and medium-sized companies, including Adtech Global, Emergency Visions, ExecuTrain, and AT&T. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Communications and attained an MBA in Marketing, with honors, from Mercer University Atlanta.

Sharon Burton

Sharon Burton retired in early 2013 after selling two successful transportation businesses to a large public company.  She has been involved with The Herring Foundation of Hope since inception, and is very active in recruiting sponsors for the organization.  In addition, she and her husband are very involved and support Best Friends Animal Society, located in Kanab, Utah, currently the largest no kill animal shelter/rescue in the United States. Locally, Sharon volunteers at Fur Kids, Georgia's largest no kill shelter, and is active in bringing legislation to Georgia that will curtail retail puppy shops. She continues to mentor and stay involved with small business owners, and spends time with her husband and many grandchildren.

Heike Greenspon

Heike is an Area Senior Vice President at Arthur J. Gallagher, a leader in delivering risk and insurance services and solutions globally.  Heike has a successful track record of partnering with organizations to provide innovative risk management and insurance solutions.  She is responsible for helping clients understand risks to the balance sheet, its employees, and stakeholders. Her expertise includes risk identification, risk financing, analytics, global and domestic insurance, risk/cost mitigation strategies as well as employee health & benefits solutions. Heike is active within the community serving on ULI Atlanta’s Advisory Board, ULI Atlanta’s Membership Committee Chair, Livable Communities Council, and Coles College Women’s Leadership Center Advisory Board. She is an avid advocate and mentor for young leaders.  She also enjoys participating in Habitat for Humanity’s annual Executive Women’s Build.

Elisa Herring

Elisa is retired from Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where she was a consumer sales customer business manager. She joined Kimberly-Clark in 1988 and received numerous sales achievement awards. Before joining Kimberly-Clark, Elisa worked for Pepsi-Cola Corporation. Elisa was instrumental in founding the Centennial Atlanta Young Man's Service League chapter (YMSL), serving on the board from 2012-2016 and acting as VP of Philanthropy. She has been the Centennial High School varsity football photographer since 2010. Elisa received a BS degree from The University of Georgia.

Bob O'Brien

Bob is the President of O’Brien Agency – Farmers Insurance serving Dunwoody. He is also the Founder and President of O'Brien Strategic Partners, LLC. He has over 30 years experience in sales, sales management, technology and insurance. He has held sales leadership positions at Crawford & Company, Willis, HRH, Hobbs Group, ExecuTrain, Lotus Development and Tektronix. He is a founding member of The Herring Foundation of Hope and has continues to serve as Chairperson of The Little Moments in Time Charity Golf Tournament each year. Other community involvement includes chairing the Marlow’s Tavern Golf Classic benefiting the Special Olympics and as the former Kiwanis Club Fund Raising Chairman and Past President of Fairfield, CT. He is currently active in the Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Dunwoody, and various committees at Dunwoody Country Club. He is the Race Director for the 2016 RunDunwoody 5K Race.
